Hey Pierre, you are the founder of the biggest and most popular French website. Please tell us something about you!
I am Peter or Tchutch. I am 27 and I am a computer consultant for a company in Strasbourg. I am French and Belgian. I work on CnCSaga.com since 1996. Command & Conquer is a real passion for me even if I have a lot of time to play.
Tell us something about your webpage www.CnCSaga.com!
CnCSaga.com is a small page that thanks to the energy of a sacred team has become a great community. We’re the main page about Command & Conquer in French for 3 years. and may be one of the most active site of the world community.
What would you say about the situation in the community? What’s coming up? What would be a pleasure for you?
It is a difficult time but it’s also quite a challenge for us all. And personally I like challenges. I have no fear for tomorrow. The community is strong and will rebound.
As admin some days are better, some are worse, what’s your motive to not give up but do that since fifteen years?
It’s being able to meet people. But it’s also working with a great team, with friends and partners at EA who make a awesome job to help us.
What were your highlights in the past fifteen years?
Hard to say … I had many moments in 14 years. I would say probably the beta of Renegade, the Games Convention 2006 where I met Apoc. and finally the launch event for Red Alert 3 in France with my team. Next : CnCSaga.de!
What are the good and bad sides being admin?
Hard to say (again) … The good side is to work with great people and to promote their projects and ideas. The bad side is to juggle volunteering, quality, fun and personal opinion. But as Aaron said, I love my job.
A few days ago CnC 4 was released in Europe. What do you think about this epic end of the saga? What’s with game-play, story and background music?
The game is good and brings many new ideas that will serve in the renewal of the franchise. But at the same time, EA has cut more than half of the game and especially the single player campaign: I do not know if this can never be forgiven.
We had to suffer a setback and the community is bad-tempered. Developers were fired, the community has split up and even the German community manager is now leaving. What is the meaning of all this in your opinion?
It is a difficult time without a doubt. I wish all these people to find quickly a new job. But at the same time, CnC must change as other EA franchises have changed. There were too many CnC between 2006 and 2010. Not mention projects canceled like Tiberium and Arena. The most important thing for EA now is to take the time to really make a finished product. We want quality.
For the community I have no doubt : the community will be active.
What are the next big projects of CnCSaga.com we can anticipate?
We have many projects in the pipeline. We work for two years in small teams and they have lots of ideas. The strength of Saga is the ability to change and always offer new ideas. You’ll know more in a few weeks. Today is CnCSaga.de
What is your estimate of the project CnCSaga? What does it mean to you and what is your opinion to all that?
It is an interesting project and I think that’s part of the future of the community to establish bridges between countries. The team of Saga.de seems motivated and CnCSaga.com can offer them high quality resources. Although completely independent network, CnCSaga has greater resources to the most fansites. I am happy to work with Daniel and his team.
What are you doing in your free-time? What is your job and what are your hobbies?
I work as a computer consultant and more precisely about ergonomics. I am also treasurer in a scout group. I am boy-scout for 20 years. Otherwise I love the TV series, comics, the airsoft, spending time with my mates.
What do you think how C&C develops in the future?
I have no idea, maybe Aaron and Jon will tell us more soon. They can certainly count on us.
Is there anything you want to add?
Good luck to the team. And I hope to meet you all soon.
Note: The interview was done when CnCSaga.de and CnCHQ.de/HQBoard.net were separate pages, each with their own forums. The interview was conducted by CnCSaga.de at the time.
